We were delighted to hold our 2017 Annual Awards evening at the Best Western Heronston Hotel & Spa in Bridgend and the end of June, with our event sponsored by Sony UK Technology Centre, Pencoed.
Of the 21 learners receiving departmental awards, 2 also received additional awards with the winners announced on the night. Dewi Davies, Learner of the Year in Construction received the Award for Commitment to Study whilst Tomas Roberts, winner of the Weston House Award, received the College Learner of the Year award.
As well as recognising individual achievement, Tata Steel received the Employer Partnership Award which recognised their long-standing relationship with the College, particularly with regards to the sector-leading collaborative approach to delivering the Tata Steel apprenticeship programme.
Our host for the evening was Frances Donovan, presenter and journalist. Students from our Performing Arts department opened the event with a song from their summer production of Me and My Girl. They closed the event with ‘This is the moment’ from Jekyll and Hyde.
