Level 1 Diploma
Overview & Modules
Sessions are delivered on working farms in the area and you get to experience handling animals such as cattle, sheep and poultry.
Looking after livestock
Keeping healthy animals
Repairing and maintaining boundaries
You will also develop a number of skills including numeracy, literacy and digital skills throughout the course.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed in a variety of ways, which could include written work, practical assessments, and multiple choice tests.
You will be advised of opportunities to gain practical proficiency certificates (NPTC, LANTRA) in areas such as chainsaw use, brush cutter strimmer, and tractor driving.
There are no formal entry requirements for this programme, but you are expected to have basic literacy and numeracy skills
You will need to attend an interview
Continue your studies
If you successfully complete this course, you will be eligible to apply for progression to the Level 2 Diplomas in Animal Care, Horticulture, Agriculture or Horse Care.
