You will study the all-round development and progress of children aged 0 – 16 years, including issues affecting children, their parents and carers. Units include Health, Education and Social Studies. You will undertake practical placements within a range of childcare settings.

You will also develop a number of skills including numeracy, literacy and digital skills throughout the course.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed continually throughout the course, with assignments, portfolio of work and an external task and test. There is also continuous assessment within the childcare placement.
5 GCSEs at grade C or above, must include English and preferably Mathematics. Equivalent qualifications are accepted including CACHE at Level 2 plus English GCSE at grade C .
Continue your studies
Successful completion of Year 2 will enable you to progress to a variety of higher education courses, some of which are available with Bridgend College. Possible careers include working as a fully qualified Early Years worker in a nursery, day nursery, hospital or workplace creche.
