This course provides you with the theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of Sports Development and Coaching. It has a strong vocational emphasis focusing on training you for a career in Sport or progression/career opportunities to degree level.
Principles and techniques in professional practice
Applicants should have a sporting profile, four GCSE passes including C grade or above in English, Maths and Science, and:
96 UCAS tariff points to include grades from A2 Level (excluding General Studies) or Scottish Advanced Highers to include a relevant subject
BTEC Diploma: Merit/Merit/Merit
96 UCAS tariff points to include grades within the Irish Leaving Certificate at Highers to include a relevant subject
Qualifications equivalent to the above are also accepted
Modes of assessment are designed to reflect that you have fulfilled the learning outcomes of the programme of study, or part of a programme, and have achieved the standard required to progress to the next stage or to qualify for an award.
Assessments vary between modules and range from essays and presentations to coaching practical sessions and case study projects. Some modules have one form of assessment with others utilising three or more assessment methods.
This course will prepare you for employment in a range of occupations including Sports Development Officers, Coaches, Fitness Instructors, Sales and Teaching.
A degree can be achieved with an additional one year ‘top-up’ programme.
